Sidewalk Salon: 1001 Street Chairs of Cairo is an ongoing research project with two end products: a book and website. The project is an intimate portrait of Cairo, seen from the thousands of street chairs on its sidewalks. It includes a carefully selected assortment of Polaroid images of street chairs which bring to the fore the creative practices of street design that give Cairo its distinctive character. A varied set of texts - interviews, fiction, poetry and essays - complement the catalog of photographs. Brought together by Manar Moursi and David Puig, Sidewalk Salon is co-published by Onomatopee (Eindhoven)
and Kotob Khan (Cairo)
